Shafer, Betty P.

Betty P. Shafer, 84, of Lititz, passed away on July 14, 2009, at Luther Acres. Born in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Grace Englehart Paden. She was the wife of the late William J. Shafer who passed away on May 23, 2000. Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lititz, and a former member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of East Petersburg. She was a graduate of Erie Business School, and prior to her retirement in 1982 was employed as a secretary for the law firm of Whiteford, Hart, Carmody, and Wilson in Washington, DC. She had served as a volunteer with the Red Cross in Lancaster. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009, at 8:00 P.M. at the Chapel of the Good Samaritan, Luther Acres, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, PA, preceded by a viewing from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home, Lititz, is serving the family.
